Below are some ways to design a room that reflects you and helps you wind down every evening.
Invest in some soft furnishings.
Cushions and throws are great for adding a pop of colour to any room and create a more comfortable and homely feeling. Layering cushions and blankets to your bed provides both style and comfort when you're either relaxing or sleeping in your bed.
If you're looking to change up your room on a budget, then it's as simple as changing cushion covers. Perhaps consider finding more luxurious fabrics or contrasting colours to make a statement.
Fabric can really make a difference to the look and feel of your space and that’s why all of our adjustable beds come in a wide selection of different fabrics – from rich leather to luxurious velour.
Lay down a rug.
Rugs are a simple but effective way to tie your whole room together. A bare floor can leave your bedroom feeling empty and plain. Simply adding a small rug can make a big difference and is another opportunity to add more colour to your room. If you have wooden floors, rugs are a great way to warm up your room, especially in the colder months.
Make sure the floor is even and the rug doesn’t become a trip hazard by placing it partially under furniture and - if it’s on a wooden floor – using a non-slip mat.
Mirror, mirror on the wall.
Create a light, spacious feel to your bedroom by using mirrors. They can make a massive difference to your room, helping it look bigger, reflecting light and brightening up the space. Mirrors come in all shapes and sizes nowadays and there are plenty of options out there, from full length mirrors and wall mirrors to smaller decorative mirrors.
Scent-ing you to sleep.
Relaxing fragrances are a great way to wind down on an evening. There are a variety of different ways to add a lovely scent to your room. Scented candles and wax melts smell amazing but also can add a homely and comfortable feeling to your room.
However, if you’re not comfortable with an open flame in your bedroom, reed diffusers, potpourri or plug diffusers are a great alternative too. You have an endless number of options when it comes to choosing a scent, although it may be worth considering choosing a lavender or chamomile scent to help you feel more relaxed for when you’re falling asleep.
Let there be light.
Getting the lighting right in your bedroom is essential. There are so many alternatives to just having ‘the big light’ in your bedroom.
A bedside table lamp is not only practical but is a much better option when you’re winding down for bed, as the dimmer light will help your sleep quality.
Small bedside table lamps are affordable but also look great in your bedroom. Tip: if you’re looking to switch up your room decor, you don’t need to buy a new lamp, you just need a lampshade.
Another great lighting addition in your room, is fairy lights. They can add a subtle but effective look to your room. A lot of fairy lights are battery powered too, which means that you don’t have to worry about placing them near plug sockets.
And finally, if you don’t have the space or placement for a lamp, consider purchasing a smart light bulb, they are voice or smart phone activated with dimming and colour changing features that can help to make your room feel more relaxed, ready for when you to go to sleep. Smart bulbs work really well with Alexa night time routines.
