Kevin Sinfield OBE recently completed his Extra Mile Challenge to raise money for Leeds Hospitals Charity and those living with Motor Neurone Disease.
The former Leeds Rhinos captain initially set out to raise £100,000 by running four marathons in 24 hours. The money raised, which currently stands at a remarkable £1.8m will be split equally between the Leeds Hospitals Charity, their families, and the Motor Neurone Disease association. The MND association funds the multi-disciplinary care delivered at the Centre and others across the country, as well as research into potential treatments for the disease.
The challenge was originally set to cover 100 miles; however, the actual distance covers 101 miles thus the name ‘The Extra Mile’. The run from Leicester to Leeds was split into 7km segments which had to be completed within an hour before the next one starts on the hour.
Kevin's fantastic achievement was celebrated by fans, supporters, famous faces, and the man who inspired Kevin to take on the challenge, his close friend and former teammate, Rob Burrow MBE.
