What is a rotating bed?
A rotating bed, sometimes called a rotating chair bed or turning bed, is an adjustable bed with a rotating mattress platform that moves you from a lying position to an upright seated position.
This movement allows for unassisted transfers into a wheelchair or to a standing position, making daily routines smoother and safer.
Opera's rotating beds are built to suit your needs, with customisable styles, height adjustment options, and premium comfort features.
How does a rotating chair bed work?
Using a simple remote control, you can smoothly transition from lying down to an upright seated position. The rotating mattress platform gently turns, positioning you to face outward, ready to stand or transfer safely.
Each bed offers adjustable height settings, letting you find the perfect level for easy access. The profiling bed action also provides personalised support for your back and legs and pressure relief.
Whether you need assistance getting in and out or require a safe working height for caregivers, our range of rotating beds has you covered.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rotating Beds
Do you offer VAT relief on rotating chair beds?
Yes, we do! You don't have to pay VAT, provided you have a recognised long-term medical condition (e.g., arthritis, diabetes, etc.) and are purchasing for personal use or on behalf of a family member or person in your care.
You can pay without VAT by filling out a simple declaration form when you go to checkout online, or if you order over the phone, you will pay without VAT, and a form will be emailed to you to complete your purchase.
If you have any questions on VAT or eligibility, you can view more information and government guidance on our VAT relief page or call us on 0333 222 8584.
How much is a rotating best cost?
Our rotating chair beds, in any standard fabric, start from £6,995 with VAT Relief for the 3ft RotoBed Home.
Rotating chair beds are designed to reduce strain on the body, which helps prevent injuries to both the user and caregivers.
Do your rotating chair beds come with a warranty
All our rotating chair beds come with a standard warranty - 5 years for motors and electrical components and 3 years for the frame - ensuring long-term reliability. Designed with quality and durability in mind, they provide lasting comfort and support.
How quickly can I get a rotating chair bed?
We carry a limited supply of our rotating chair beds in stock, which can be delivered by pallet as quickly as the next working day. However, due to their weight, our 2-man installation service is recommended for these beds.
All non-stock variations have an average lead time of 3-4 weeks. Please feel free to contact our team on 0333 222 8584 to find out which beds we currently have in stock.
What is the height range of a turning bed?
Within our range, our rotating chair beds have two different types of heights to choose from.
Fixed height (four positions): These are fixed position options designed to correspond with the height of the user's lower leg, from the floor to the knee.
Height adjustable: This allows the user to choose a height to suit them. With a fully adjustable height, the bed can be raised higher to help with nursing and care, as well as lowered closer to the floor to help exit the bed.
Are rotating chair beds suitable for Parkinson's?
Yes, rotating beds can be beneficial for people with Parkinson's. They assist with getting in and out of bed by gently rotating the user to a seated position, reducing strain and promoting independence. For more information on choosing the right bed, visit our Knowledge Hub.
