Elaine Hollerhead (Consultant - Diploma in Professional Interior Design, Royal College of Occupational Therapists Diploma with the Health & Care Professions Council, Reg No: OT06914) is a fully-qualified occupational therapist and interior designer, who worked for the NHS and social services for almost 40 years, before setting up her inclusive interior design business Designate, in 2011.
Starting out in 1974 she worked for Crawley Hospital treating patients with orthopaedic, general medical and surgical conditions. She moved to Kings College Hospital in 1976 to carry out the same work, then moved to the Kings & Guys Neurological and Neurosurgical Unit at Maudsley Hospital in 1977. Here, she worked with people who had undergone neurosurgery or were living with advanced neurological conditions.
After this, Elaine moved to Bristol to work for Avon Social Services as a senior occupational therapist, visiting and assessing clients in their homes, and providing adaptive equipment and major housing adaptations. In her final role as a senior OT, she returned to the NHS with UBHT Community Trust (now University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust).
Elaine is an ambassador for Opera Beds and has extensive knowledge of the cause and effects of a large spectrum of injuries and conditions, and how they impact health and ability now, and in the future.
