Opera® Impulse vs. Hospital Foam Mattress - Interface Pressure Test Results
Data contains localised pressure data from 1024 sensors with Isobar display images.
The test data is interpreted by finding the maximum interface pressure between the patient and foam mattress and between the patient and the Impulse mattress. They are compared by calculating the percentage improvement that the Impulse mattress has over the foam mattress.
The interface pressure between the patient and the mattress has been shown to be improved by up to 81% when an Opera® Impulse system is chosen as a replacement for a standard foam mattress. The Impulse system, when used with the pump, results in a maximum interface pressure of 24.5mmHg and a minimum of 16mmHg.
Yes, all our mattresses come with a vapour-permeable PU cover which allows the mattress surface to be wiped clean when necessary.
Yes, The Opera Impulse Hybrid Mattress can be purchased indivudaly as a standalone pressure care mattress for very high risk users. It can also be used with the pump when additional firmess is required and users benefit from a mattress that provides both static and dynamic pressure care.
All of our pressure care mattresses are suitable for use on any type of bed, including profiling care beds and adjustable beds.
The cover is a PU cover and is breathable, this prevents the user from sweating and the build up of heat.
The Impulse Hybrid Mattress is designed for users at a very high risk of developing a pressure sore. Those who are classified as very high risk will most likely experienced a pressure sore previously and is not uncommon for them to develop. Examples of people within the very high risk category are more likely to have restricted mobility, damaged and vulnerable skin. Other potential factors such as being confined to a bed or inability to move specific areas of the body can come under the very risk category.
