The bed can be lowered to just 22cm from the floor, greatly reducing the risk of impact injury from falls. When coupled with floor safety mats, the risk of injury is removed almost entirely. This low height also makes it easier to swing legs on to the bed.
Featuring a profiling mattress platform, the Classic Low allows users to adjust their back and leg rests as and when they desire. This enables users with the ability to sit up in their beds or to raise their knees, legs and feet at the push of a button.
The Opera® Classic Low is an ideal bed for users with respiratory or postural conditions. It features a Trendelenburg function which allows the bed to tilt both forwards and backwards, assisting with blood flow and relieving pressure build up.
A straightforward, easy-to-operate handset is used to control the Opera® Classic Low bed. The handset has a locking feature that enables the operator to disable all or just Trendelenburg functions where there is a safety concern with the user.
The bed can accommodate mattresses of up to 8" in depth whilst remaining fully compliant with bed rail regulations. This eliminates the need for extension height side rails or copious risk assessments when an individual requires an alternating air mattress.
The Classic Low can be configured to suit individual design preferences and care requirements. The bed has head/foot board options, wood colour choices and can be ordered with or without falls prevention side rails.
There are two main benefits of having a bed that lowers close to the florr. The first is that it provides a safe sleeping height and when paired with a padded floor mat the risk of injury form falls are greatly reduced. The other benefit is it is much easier to swing legs onto the bed when it is at a lower height.
We do not recommend the Classic Low for on-bed nursing by carers as it raises to 62cm and not the minimum of 70cm deemed suitable for nursing. A bed that doesn't raise to a carer's waist level will impede nursing and could cause back strain. If your require the bed to go both low to the floor as well as up to a carer's waist level for nursing, view our SIgnature and Solo bed collections.
Mattresses are sold separately and you will be asked to slect a mattress when you click 'Add to Basket'. There are various mattress options depending on pressure care needs and comfort preferences.
The Opera Classic Low Profiling Bed is available with or without side rails. As the bed lowers to a low height, some users do not require the side rails. If you do specify the bed with side rials, when not in use they drop down out of the way and act as a wooden side to the bed.
The wooden side rails can only be operated by a person outside of the bed. Raising the rails to prevent falls is simple and a finger-operated securing latch holds them firmly in place. The rails can be lowered below the mattress when not in use.
In the event of a power cut, all of our profiling beds have a 29v battery back-up which provides enough power toadjust the bed to a safe position.
Scheduled servicing is not a requirement. The bed is covered by an all-inclusive warranty for the first three years in which all parts and engineer/labour costs are covered. A two year parts extension is also available for addiitonal peace of mind. One-off servicing visits by an Opera engineer are also available at any point when the bed is in use.
