There are two main benefits of having a bed that lowers close to the florr. The first is that it provides a safe sleeping height and when paired with a padded floor mat the risk of injury form falls are greatly reduced. The other benefit is it is much easier to swing legs onto the bed when it is at a lower height.
We do not recommend the Classic Low for on-bed nursing by carers as it raises to 62cm and not the minimum of 70cm deemed suitable for nursing. A bed that doesn't raise to a carer's waist level will impede nursing and could cause back strain. If your require the bed to go both low to the floor as well as up to a carer's waist level for nursing, view our SIgnature and Solo bed collections.
Mattresses are sold separately and you will be asked to slect a mattress when you click 'Add to Basket'. There are various mattress options depending on pressure care needs and comfort preferences.
The Opera Classic Low Profiling Bed is available with or without side rails. As the bed lowers to a low height, some users do not require the side rails. If you do specify the bed with side rials, when not in use they drop down out of the way and act as a wooden side to the bed.
The wooden side rails can only be operated by a person outside of the bed. Raising the rails to prevent falls is simple and a finger-operated securing latch holds them firmly in place. The rails can be lowered below the mattress when not in use.
In the event of a power cut, all of our profiling beds have a 29v battery back-up which provides enough power toadjust the bed to a safe position.
All our profiling and adjustable beds are covered by a 3-year warranty which includes 3 years parts and 1-year labour cover. We offer two upgrade plans (read more) if you would like to buy additional cover for your Opera bed.
